On April 2, Professor David Johnson from the University of Oxford visited Guizhou University along with his delegation. Prior to a roundtable discussion, Professor Johnson and his team were welcomed by Yang Wei, Party Secretary of Guizhou University, and Vice President Wang Jinrong. Representatives from relevant departments and colleges also attended the meeting.

Vice President Wang warmly welcomed Professor Johnson on behalf of the university. He gave an overview of GZU’s distinctive strengths, including its educational philosophy, disciplinary development, and efforts in international cooperation. He expressed hope that Professor Johnson would share his insights and experience to support the university’s ongoing development, and looked forward to building closer ties with Oxford in areas such as cultural exchange, research collaboration, and joint academic initiatives.

Professor Johnson spoke highly of Guizhou University’s rich cultural environment, noting that it encourages diverse and innovative thinking in education. He said he looked forward to deeper cooperation between the two institutions, particularly in fields related to artificial intelligence. He suggested working together to develop more tailored and forward-looking teaching strategies, with a focus on improving learning outcomes and faculty development.

During the meeting, both sides engaged in discussions on expanding faculty and student exchanges, enhancing talent development, and fostering collaborative research.
